SCOTT L. BIRDSLEY
Marion
Scott L. Birdsley, 36, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Clinton, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Scott was born in Clinton on July 3, 1985, the son of Diane (Charlson) and Steven Birdsley. Scott graduated from Clinton High School in 2003 and from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids in 2008. He was employed as a senior desktop analyst with TransAmerica in Cedar Rapids.
Scott met the love of his life, Elizabeth "Liz" Lingle in 2004 and they were married on Sept. 5, 2009, in Clinton. Together they had two children, Natalie (10) and Gavin (7). They were his absolute pride and joy.
There is a tremendous void in the place of Scott's passing. He was a loving husband, a patient and kind father, a reliable friend, and always put his family before anything else. There wasn't a dad chore or dad joke that Scott sat out on. He was someone you knew you could always call and he would always answer. Scott gave to family and friends without end and put everyone's needs before his own.
Those left to miss and love Scott are Liz, Natalie and Gavin, who reside in Marion; his parents, Steven and Diane of Clinton; sister, Jessica (Patrick) Getz of Clinton; brother, Eric Birdsley of Chicago; sister-in-law, Alice (Tom) Drummond of Port Byron; brother-in-law, Joshua (Jessica) Lingle of Clinton; and nieces and nephews, Abram, Willa, Gabriel, Jocelyn, Franklin, Lauren, Sydney and Wyatt; and many close friends and loved ones.
Memorials may be made to the family.
