June Reiter, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. .
June is survived by five stepchildren, Gene (Susanne) Reiter, Daniel (Sharon) Reiter, David (Theresa) Reiter, Jennifer (Mike) Flach and Julie (Mark) Reynolds; nieces and nephews, Jan (Bob) Null, Julie (Tom) Dunn, Jill Cheney, John Reade, Doug (Rachelle) Rickels, Pam (Frank) Johnson, Jim (Colleen) Waldren and Vickie (Bob) McCommons; stepgrandchildren, Morgan, Jason, Lori, Hank Reiter, Ben and Nick Flach and Annie Krishna; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Joan Reade, Jean Schemmel, Lenore Waldron, Wilma Fitzsimmons, Ruth Lahey and Mary Lou Rickels; two infant siblings, Margaret and Robert; and a niece, Sue Schemmel.
June Hein was born June 12, 1930, in Richland Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was a triplet to her sisters, Joan and Jean, and the daughter of John and Margaret Allen Hein. June received her early education in the rural schools of Richland Township. She graduated from Monticello Community Schools with the Class of 1948. June worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Monticello. June married Lambert Reiter on Sept. 23, 1967, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sand Springs, Iowa. The couple farmed near Hopkinton. When they retired from the farm in 1970, they moved to Monticello. She and Lambert operated a popcorn business in the area. In 1984, they opened the J&L Coral in Sand Springs. Lambert would precede her in death on July 13, 1990. June loved to golf, fish, and play cards and dice games. She was a huge Chicago Cubs fan.
