MARION FRANCIS SCOLARO
Cedar Rapids
Marion Francis "Bud" Scolaro passed peacefully from this life Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Wesley Court Assisted Living in Boiling Springs, S.C., following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was originally from Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy "Penny."
Survivors include his three children: daughter, Kelly (Tom) Murdock, and sons, Mitchell Scolaro and Vincent Scolaro; grandchildren, Tony Scolaro, Whitney Brandt, Jackson Brandt, Caleb Murdock, Marnie Hill-Woodworth, Paige Rose Nielson-Scolaro and Sister Antoinette Snyder; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of the late Anthony and Ann (Slavik) Scolaro. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in 1954. He married Penny in 1958 and was an U.S. Army veteran serving our country from 1958-1964. He retired in 1998 after 43 years as a Maintenance Electrician at Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids. He was a lifetime member of the Machinists Union Local 831. In his retirement, he enjoyed the many projects worked on with friends and family. Bud could fix anything. He had a gift.
Bud always loved cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed showing his 1968 Pontiac GTO, receiving many awards both locally and nationally. He loved all of the Harley trips with his friends and family including the annual trips to Sturgis.
Funeral arrangements for both Bud and Penny (who passed away April 19, 2021) will be held at a future date.
