Valerie Gail Brandt, 58, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, located at 3500 29th Ave., Marion, with a funeral service immediately following. Valerie was born March 2, 1963, in Michigan, the daughter of William and Mary (Shreatte) Becker. In high school, she played the trumpet. She had many fond memories of playing in her high school band. On June 15, 1985, Valerie was united in marriage to Wayne Brandt in Traverse City, Mich. Valerie worked at Wendy's while she and Wayne lived in West Virginia. Valerie had a lot of fun stories to tell from this job, however after she had kids and moved to Iowa, she chose to focus on raising them as a stay-at-home mom. Her true passion in life was caring for her children and grandchildren. Valerie loved being a mother and grandmother. When her kids were younger, she enjoyed going to their sporting events and cheering them on. Valerie helped her husband, Wayne, organize and coach the Linn-Mar High School bowling team for several years. Her favorite past times were playing card games and watching TV shows. Valerie very much loved going to the movie theater and watching plays at the Old Creamery Theatre with her late husband. Valerie also liked going to the gym and made many friends through her aqua aerobics class. She enjoyed many monthly luncheons at different restaurants with them. Valerie also had a soft spot for her furry friends. Her dog Bella was truly loved. Valerie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Valerie is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children, Brittany (Greg) Larson, William Brandt and Zachary (Chelsea Stribling) Brandt; four grandchildren, Mila Brandt, Lucy Brandt, Autumn Larson and Adelyn Larson; two stepgrandchildren, Brynn Larson and Evelynn Larson; four siblings, William L. (Mary) Becker, Paul (Eve Rogus) Becker, Cheryl Becker and Mary Becker Kuzner; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Becker; dear husband, Wayne Brandt; and sister, Anne Becker.
