Noreen Kime, 95, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Methwick. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Jaymee Glenn-Burns. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Noreen is survived by her son, Jon (Donadel) Kime of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Joleen Rouser of Lancaster, S.C., and Janis (Robert) Jackson of Ocoee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Matt (Jarmila) Kime of Tampa, Fla., Heidi Rouser Grant of Waxhaw, N.C., Kurt (Susan) Rouser of Seattle, Wash., Max Jackson of Ocoee, Fla., and Emilee Jackson of Eugene, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Frank Kime of Tampa, Fla., Allayna Grant of Tempe, Ariz., Jathan Grant of Las Cruces, N.M., Ellenette Grant of Waxhaw, N.C., Corrine and Chase Rouser of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Donna Martin of Anderson, Ind.; sister-in-law, Jan Dostal of Neiwat, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 1992; son-in-law, Don Rouser; brother, Ron Dostal; brother-in-law, Donnie Martin; parents; and stepfather, Joe Dostal.
Noreen Joyce Hiland was born on July 17, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Alvin and Wilhelmina Kretschmar Hiland. Noreen was a 1944 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She married Robert "Bob" Kime on April 20, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. After her graduation from Roosevelt High School, she attended the University of Iowa, later graduating from Kirkwood Community College with an Associate of Arts degree.
Noreen worked as a bookkeeper for Langer Manufacturing for 53 years, only retiring when the company closed. She was a member of DAR and the Iowa Accordion Club. As a young girl, she played on numerous radio programs often accompanying Leo Greco, a local band leader. Noreen volunteered at concession stand No. 1 for 25 years at Kingston Stadium and was voted into the Jefferson Booster Club hall of fame. Noreen was a member of St. James Methodist Church where she was a member of the bell choir. Noreen and Bob were members of several card clubs. She also enjoyed working puzzles.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a charity of their choice.
