Jeanette Lalor, 79. died peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Newman Center. Visitation will be prior to the service,
10 to 11 a.m. A brief reception will be held after the Mass. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Newman Center, St. Mary's Catholic Church or Table to Table.
Jeanette was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Des Moines, and became the daughter of Frank and Adelaide Kuncl.
She received her Bachelor's degree from Marycrest College. On June 11, 1966, Jeanette married Francis Richard Lalor at St. Mary's Church, Iowa City.
Jeanette was a music educator at Regina, Keota and other Iowa City community schools. She served as secretary at the Newman Center and St. Mary's Catholic Church for 25 years and was the church organist.
Jeanette loved to garden, cook and entertain for family and friends.
The Lalor family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Fred Ovrum for his dedicated care to Jeanette over the past several years and to the medical and nursing staff at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, for their extraordinary care of Jeanette over the past several decades.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Francis "Frank" and their children, Lisa (Jay) Johnston of Iowa City and their son, Nile (Mackenzee); Christine Lalor of East Moline, Ill.; Rich Lalor of Des Moines; Jenny (Matthew) Leyser of Des Moines, and their children, Bailey, Lily, and Owen; and Jerry Lalor of Iowa City and his children, Quinn and Aaron.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jerry.
