Margaret was born on April 18, 1920, in Iowa City, to Clyde E. and Lenora (Lalla) Hinchliffe. She was a 1938 graduate of City High School. On Aug. 26, 1941, she married George Maxey and they enjoyed many years together until his death in July of 2010.
Margaret worked for almost 30 years as an administrative assistant for the University of Iowa Athletic Department, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed traveling with George, including their annual trip to Ocala, Fla., cheering on Hawkeyes football and basketball, and enjoying time with her many friends. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and active on the Coralville Heights Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clyde V Hinchliffe; and her husband, George.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to HomeSafe who made it possible for Aunt Margaret to stay in her home through the end of her life as she had wished. You became her family and we will be forever grateful for all you did for her. In addition to Cathy Tholen, HomeSafe owner and care coordinator, much love and thanks to Jecinta, Elsa, Jessie, Jean-Paul and RN Marge.
