Denny was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Armin and Vera (Parkhill) Bruns. As an infant, she and her family moved to Davenport where she would grow up. Following graduation from high school in Davenport, she attended and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Institution Management and a minor in English. At ISU, she chaired Veishea, was president of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, and was president of Women's Panhellenic.
She married Homer Dudley in 1945. To this marriage three children were born. For a number of years, as the children were in school, she took much pride in the titles of wife and mom, active at her children's events and volunteering at schools and churches wherever they lived. In 1969, she began a public relations career at Bell Laboratories, AKA AT&T. She worked in PR throughout AT&T for over 20 years before her retirement in 1989. She was also recognized for her skills by the management of AT&T.
In retirement, she moved back to Iowa City in 1990, where she was active in the Hancher Guild and the Nineteenth Century Club. She was also a member of the Congregational Church.
Her family includes two sons, Joseph Dudley of New Hampshire and John Dudley and his wife, Carolynn, of South Carolina; grandsons, Ryland Page of North Carolina and Chris Page of Boston; and great-grandchildren, Tavish and Sawyer Page.
No public services are planned for Denny. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.
