James Turner, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth; daughter, Troy Lynn Schuler of Marion; sons, James (Marie) Turner of Palmer, Alaska, and Scott (Katrina) Turner of Marion; grandchildren, Nikki Kibler, Derek Turner, Deania Schuler, Lance Turner and Vanessa Turner; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, John Turner, Dave Turner and Tom Turner.
James was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bonnie, Maxine and Liz; and brothers, George, Arthur, Paul and Bill.
James Edward Turner was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Hocking, Iowa, to parents, John and Mary Turner. He graduated from Albia High School in 1955 and joined the United States Army in October 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Jim married Ruth Bequeaith on Jan. 19, 1963. They moved to Cedar Rapids and started their family. Jim worked for National Oats and retired from ADM after 38 years. His hobbies included woodworking, boating, camping, supporting the Hawkeyes and spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice.
