Loras beats Coe by a point in American Rivers Conference wrestling dual
Duhawks stay unbeaten with 19-18 win

CEDAR RAPIDS — Loras won five straight matches and escaped with a dual win over Coe.
The second-ranked Duhawks received a pin and major decision during the middleweight stretch to upend No. 3 Coe, 19-18, at the American Rivers Conference Duals Saturday at Kohawk Arena.
The Kohawks jumped to a 12-0 lead after the first three weights. Eighth-ranked Alex Friddle opened the dual with a major decision over No. 13 Jared Hensley at 125 pounds. Former Linn-Mar prep Bryce Parke followed with a technical fall at 133. Brock Henderson added a decision at 141.
Loras (9-0, 4-0 American Rivers) started its run at 149 and won four of five matches between ranked wrestlers. Eighth-ranked Daniel Ruiz sparked the Duhawks with a 3-1 decision over No. 11 Riley Wright. Seventh-ranked 157-pounder Zeke Smith provided another key victory, getting a pin over No. 15 Brady Henderson. Jacob Krakow also earned bonus points with a major decision at 174. The Duhawks led 19-12 with two matches remaining.
Coe made a late charge, receiving a decision from Matheiu Arsenault over Colin Murphy at 197 and a sudden-victory win from heavyweight Kaleb Reeves over Brady Vogel, but fell just shy of the comeback.
Coe beat Luther, 36-6, in its first dual Saturday. Loras also beat the Norse, 43-4.
The Kohawks are 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
