DOROTHY "DOT" ANN POSPISCHIL

Dorothy "Dot" Ann Pospischil, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Deacon Stan Scheiding. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Due to concerns over the novel coronavirus, family members and friends are required to wear a mask to any funeral event.
Dot is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul; daughter, Jennifer (Ethan) Elliott of Denver, Colo., and their children, Athena and Elaina; son, Nicholas (Amanda) Pospischil of Cheyenne, Wyo., and their children, Kaelyn and Jackson; sister, Susan (Peter) Ogle of Westerly, R.I., and niece, Hope (Rob) Turenne; and brother, William (Andrea) Hotaling and nephew, Jay Hotaling.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dot was born Dec. 30, 1951, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Raymond and Barbara Birchenough Hotaling and graduated in 1970 from Darien High School, Darien, Conn. She then graduated in 1974 from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., with a degree in education. On July 5, 1975, she married Paul Pospischil in Freeport, Ill. She was a teacher at Prairie High School from 1974 until her retirement in 2007.
Dot was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of the College Community School Board for 11 years after her retirement, past-president of the library board in Fairfax and a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for three years following retirement. She also started the Medical Advocacy & Resident Council at Grand Living Senior Community.
Dot enjoyed needle point and beading, reading and helping others. She loved family times and will be missed by those who knew her.
