JEFFREY WAYNE FUNK
Cedar Rapids
Jeffrey Wayne Funk, 53, passed away suddenly Dec. 28, 2021, at his home in Centennial Colo. Born on April 10, 1968, he was a longtime resident of Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother, Sharon Ayers; and uncle, Harold Ayers.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Funk; son, Ty R. Funk; father, Wayne Funk; sister, Kim Payetta; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong athlete and sports fan. He was a rabid Hawkeye and Chiefs fan, even in hostile territory, and was a great supporter of youth sports programs. As a corporate accountant, he worked for Windstream, formerly Mcleod USA, for 16 years and thought of the people he worked with there as family. Jeff maintained many friendships dating back to grade school. The only thing he took more pride in than the love he had for his friends was the pride he had in his son Ty. He was much loved and will be missed.
His ashes will be spread with those of his much-loved uncle Hal this summer in Durango, Colo. Jeff would consider it a tribute to his memory if donations were to be made in his name to local youth sports organizations.
