Allen L. Cress, 80, of Luzerne, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at his home. Per his wishes, no services will be held. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Allen was born Sept. 9, 1941, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Tharp) Cress. He graduated from Alburnett High School. In 1960, Allen was united in marriage to Caryol Thompson in Cedar Rapids. He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Allen was proud of his military service. Allen worked at Rockwell Goss for nearly 36 years. He was a member of the MJ Kirby Post #170 of Blairstown, Iowa. Allen loved hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed breakfast at the Lincoln Cafe in Belle Plaine.
Survivors include his wife, Caryol Cress of Luzerne; children, Scott Cress (Dorothy Cross) of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and Lori Yardley of Atkins, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy (Larry) Mumm of Shellsburg, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret Cress; and niece, Tisha Smith.
