Colleen Hicks, 68, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Visitation for Colleen will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, from 3 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service following at 5 p.m. at The Gathering Place, Manchester, Iowa. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
Colleen was born on Sept. 8, 1953, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of John E. and Mary Ellen (Callahan) Harris, and was raised in the Greeley area. She graduated from West Delaware High School in 1971. Colleen married Roger Hicks on Sept. 8, 1973, in Greeley, Iowa. She was employed by Dr. Tyrell and at the University of Iowa. Colleen enjoyed spending her time quilting, going to quilting retreats, going on motorcycle trips with Roger, riding the UTV and spending time with family and friends.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Roger Hicks of Manchester; her sons, Troy Hicks (Andrea) Hicks of Iowa City and Travis (Kristina Bevens) Hicks of Solon; grandchildren, Owen, Libbie, Ethan and Alicia; siblings, Karen Senters of Webster City, Nancy (Larry) Stroschein of Mesa, Ariz., Joan (Al) Ojanen of Plainview, Minn., Lorie (Ron) Glanz of Manchester and Steve (Stacey) Harris of Hills; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Tammy Harris of Edgewood, Joyce Coppess of Iowa City, Chuck Hicks of Jerome, Mich., and Mary Kay Hicks of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ellen Harris; brother, Scott Harris; father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Doris Hicks; and brother-in-law, Jerry Senters.
