Dorothy Marie Wood, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at Winslow House in Marion on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Certified Celebrant Jim Parton officiating.
Dorothy was born Nov. 27, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Burgin) Fenton. She married Richard Earl Wood. Dorothy worked at several places including Downing Box and also at her husband's business, Dick's Tile Shop. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. Dorothy had a lifelong love of animals and provided a good life to many dogs throughout her life.
Those left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her siblings, Linda Huber, of Marion Iowa, and Donald Fenton of Arvada, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Wood; her parents; her siblings, Dwayne, Dwight, G. Dean Fenton and Patricia Brogan; and her in-laws, Myrtle (Moss) and Lorm Yardley and Earl Wood.
Memorial contributions maybe made in her name to the Iowa State Veterinary College.
The family wishes to thank the entire staffs at both the Winslow House and Mercy Hospice for all the love and support they showed Dorothy while she was in their care.
