IOWA CITY — Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell will return for his senior season in what was an “easy decision,” he announced Wednesday afternoon, rather than declaring for the NFL Draft.
“The University of Iowa has given me so many blessings,” Campbell said in a graphic posted on the team’s social media channels. “This state and the people in it are the best in America, hands down. I’m excited to get back to work!”
Campbell was an omnipresent force on the Hawkeyes’ defense in 2021, starting in all 14 games and rarely leaving the game. He took 1,121 snaps, per Pro Football Focus.
He recorded 143 total tackles in 2021, the most for a Hawkeye in a single season since Pat Angerer had 145 tackles in 2009.
