Curtis "Bill" Foreman, 62, of Palo, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, with a Masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Celebration of Life will continue from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 15, at El Kahir Shrine, 905 Tower Terrace Rd., Hiawatha, Iowa.
Bill was born Oct. 20, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Richard and Sylvia (Orebaugh) Foreman. In 1978, he graduated from Kennedy High School. Bill volunteered with the Hiawatha Fire Department from 1983-2004, serving as chief from 1988-1989. He worked in traffic engineering for the City of Cedar Rapids for 26 years until his retirement in 2014. Bill was united in marriage to Valerie "Val" Mason on Feb. 19, 2000, in Cedar Rapids. He was a Noble with the El Kahir Shriners, and a member of the Crescent Lodge #25 in Shellsburg. Bill enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, fishing and hunting, tropical travels overseas and day trips to the winery. Above all else, his grandchildren were the light of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Val Foreman of Palo; children, Shayn (Megan) Mason, Katie (Sean) Irish, all of Marion, Iowa, and Taylor Foreman (Kari Jeffrey) of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, Ellie, Raeli, Oakley, Liam, Millie, Odin and Baby Irish on the way; siblings, Kay Petersen of Shellsburg, Dick (Terri) Foreman of Wisconsin, Jean Eby, Marie (Guy) Sullivan, all of Cedar Rapids, Clayton (Debbie) Foreman of Toddville, Iowa; and his loving Labradors, Sophie and Gracie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Sylvia Foreman; brother-in-law, Pete Petersen; and Labrador, Tasha.
