ELLEN SACORA
Cedar Rapids
Ellen Sacora went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. She was buried and a memorial service in her honor will be announced in the spring.
Ellen Rowden was born May 23, 1934, in Arkansas. Her family moved to Cedar Rapids, where she was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Keith Sacora, on June 9, 1951, at the Little Brown Church. They were married for 64 years until Keith passed away in 2015. After raising four children, she went back to school and graduated from Kirkwood College as a CMA. She worked for many years at Mercy and St. Luke's Hospitals in the lab departments. She enjoyed her job but eventually found her ultimate pleasure in working fulltime as a CMA and caregiver for the mentally and physically disabled. Her favorite thing to do was watch preachers on TV, especially Billy Graham, David Jeremiah and Charles Stanley, and to listen to Gaither's Gospel music.
She is survived by three sons, Rick of Marion, Larry (Michelle) of Robins and Kenny (Kathy) of Colorado; one sister,Betty in California; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents; precious daughter, Jo Ellen; loving granddaughter, Shelly; and five brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ellen's name to Billy Graham Association; BGEA.org for the spreading of the Gospel.
"The death of His faithful ones is valuable in the Lord's sight." Psalm 116:15
