IOWA CITY — Kyler Schott’s time with the Iowa Hawkeyes has officially come to a close.
Schott, Iowa’s starting left guard in 2021 and a North Linn grad, announced on Twitter Friday he is declaring for the NFL Draft and will not return for a sixth season.
“Growing up as a Hawkeye fan, it was always a dream of mine to play in the black and gold!” Schott said in a tweet thanking fans, coaches and family.
The former walk-on started Iowa’s last 10 games of 2021 after suffering a hay-baling injury that delayed the start of his senior season.
He received second-team all-Big Ten honors in 2021 from the Associated Press and Big Ten coaches.
