DALE M. "BUD" HEGLAND

Dale M. "Bud" Hegland, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with the visitation to begin one hour prior.
Bud was born on June 17, 1934, in Castalia, Iowa, the son of Oberlin and Evelyn (Nims) Hegland. After high school, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Bud was united in marriage to Eleanor Volesky on Aug. 16, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He was a welder and foreman for Universal Engineering. Bud was a member of the Machinist Union 831 and Marion American Legion 398 and former member of Hanford American Legion Post 5. He enjoyed being a scout leader for Pack 77, playing Bingo and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Hegland; children, Robert (Linda) Hegland of Marion, Kevin (Kelly) Hegland of Cedar Rapids and Jeff (Tenille) Hegland of Ft. Port, Fla.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and one on the way.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Oberlin, and Evelyn Hegland; sister, LaVerna Feuerhelm; and brothers, Dwayne Hegland and Dennis Hegland.
