Scott Allen Richards, 45, of Hiawatha, passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Memorial Mass on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Private inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Scott was born on April 20, 1976, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of Kenneth and Lyla (O'Donnell) Richards. Scott worked for DA Bunch Co. as a union painter. He was a long-time member of Painters Local 447. Scott loved his family very much. He was always up to something, putting a smile on everyone's face and a chuckle in their soul. He was a very hard worker, always lending a hand, willing to help others no matter how much of his own work there was to do. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, motorcycles and joking around with others. Scott was dearly loved by his family and will missed beyond words.
Survivors include his children, Zackery Richards of Independence, Maddison Richards of Cedar Rapids and Kameron Richards of Hiawatha; granddaughter, Ellie Richards; mother, Lyla Richards of Marion; father, Kenneth Richards of Three Rivers, Texas; brother, Randy (Margaret) Strnad of Marion; sister, Sherry (Robert) Nelson of Masonville; and significant other, Kristine Sorenson of Hiawatha. Scott is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Robert and Marcella Simmons, Clyde and Marjorie Richards and Donald O'Donnell.
