CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested and jailed Sunday on suspicion of robbery after police said he entered a home with a loaded handgun, demanding marijuana from the residents.
DeWayne L. Hunt, 20, is accused of entering a Cedar Rapids home in the 1600 block of Eighth Avenue SE on New Year's Day. Police said he had a loaded Glock handgun and demanded marijuana from two people in the home.
During a struggle with the residents, Hunt fired a shot from the handgun. Hunt was held by the victims until police officers arrived, a Linn County criminal complaint said.
Hunt is charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison; felon in possession of a firearm; and carrying a concealed weapon.
He is being held on $35,000 cash or surety bond.
