JAMES "JIM" LINDEMANN
Iowa City
James "Jim" Lindemann, 79, lifelong resident of Iowa City, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
James Louis Lindemann was born Feb. 11, 1942, in Iowa City, the son of John R.
and Geneva (Hunter) Lindemann. He attended Scott #3 Country School for nine years before entering City High School where he graduated. Jim worked for the University of Iowa for over 35 years before retiring. In retirement, he worked at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Iowa City. He was a charter member at St. Marks United Methodist Church, a member of the Iowa City Saddle Club for years and an active and proud member of the IOOF Lodge of Iowa City for over 50 years.
Jim was "Jim" to all who were blessed and fortunate to know him, and that was many as he really never did know a stranger. He taught us to live life truly as your authentic self, no need to be someone who you are not, love me for who I am! Jim enjoyed camping, bowling, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Oddfellows gatherings if only at the Iowa City Lodge or in a National meeting; but near and dear to Jim's heart was his family and dear friends.
His family includes his siblings and their spouses, Jerry and Darlene Lindemann, Janet and Lloyd Hofmaster, and Joanne and Steve Podhajsky; nieces and nephews, Steve Lindemann (Michelle), Rich Lindemann (Michelle), David Lindemann (Brenda), Debbie Pence (Mark), Lori Rishel (Tim), Mike Hofmaster, Mark Hofmaster, Julie Trimpe (Cliff Frey) and Brian Trimpe (Arthur); numerous cousins and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Sherry Hofmaster.
Services celebrating Jim's life will be held at a later date to be announced. To share a thought, memory or condolence with his family please visit Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service website under obituaries.
