Matthew Aaron Perkins, 49, of Cedar Rapids, died on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Clark. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Monday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Matt is survived by three sons, Dylan (Chelsie) of Phillipsburg, Ohio, Austin of Coggon and Jack of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Rylee of Ames; two sisters, Dana (Troy) Goodall of Cedar Rapids and Jenny Goodall of Bellevue, Neb.; four brothers, Shaun Goodall of Cedar Rapids, James (Shannon) Goodall of Bellevue, Neb., Joseph (Jeanne) Goodall of O'Fallen, Mo., and Jerome "Robert" Perkins of Cedar Rapids; three nephews, Caleb, Quinton and Kameren; and his former wife, Beth DuCharme of Coggon.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Goodall (Perkins); daughter, Mattison Perkins; and grandparents, David and Margaret Perkins.
Matthew was born on Dec. 28, 1971, in Iowa City, the son of Margaret Perkins. He attended Prairie and graduated from Metro High School in 1991. Matt married Beth DuCharme on Feb. 13, 1998, in Cedar Rapids. They were divorced in 2017. Matthew was employed for many years as a baker at Donutland in Cedar Rapids.
Matt loved his children. He was a witty soul who was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Batman movies, fishing and wrestling. He will be fondly remembered as a home theater techy and for his fascination with conspiracy theories.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
