Michael R. Potter, 70, formerly of Anamosa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021.
He is survived by his mother, Berta Potter; his wife, Mary Lou (Boyle) Potter; his five daughters, Abigail Chiavetta (Jeff Marley), Jessica (Frank) Peterman, Cynthia Hall, Rebecca Doyle (David Sheppard) and Thereasa "Terri" Potter; grandchildren, Rowan, Joshua, Samantha, Amelia, Myles, Frankie, Jeffrey, Noah, Michael (Andi), Emily, Lillian, Danielle, McCord, Karrynn, Kenya (Gage), Kylee, Jaden, Jaxon and Aurora; step-children, Karidee Perry (Jasenko Kuskic), Ammon (Stephanie) Perry, Rita (Armando) Caraballo, Adrienne (Adam) Everitt, Karolyn (Scott) Nelson, Meredith (Joe)VanderVloedt and Ethan Perry; 27 step-grandchildren that Mike loved as his own; siblings, Don (Cindy) Potter, Karren (Darrell) Arvidson and Jerry (Mary) Potter; brother-in-law, Donald "Marty" Martin; Boyle family siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert Potter; and sister, Kathyrn Martin.
Mike was born in Trenton, Mo., raised in Anamosa, Iowa, and was a graduate of Anamosa High School. He lived in both California and Utah for many years, moving to New York in 2008 to be with the love of his life. Mike most recently worked as a bus driver for CATS, from where he retired. Mike was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was an emergency preparation specialist. He enjoyed crocheting, cooking outside (including Dutch oven and food storage) and survival activities.
Friends may call Thursday, from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 365 Parrish St., Canandaigua, N.Y. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
