FAY ELDER
North Liberty
Fay Elder, 93, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at Lantern Park Specialty Care in North Liberty. Celebration of Life services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St., SW. Friends may visit with the family on Friday after 10 a.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Anderson Cemetery, near Swisher.
Fay was born July 28, 1928, in Missouri, the daughter of Victor and Ethel (Gillispie) Schoonover. Fay worked for many years as a seamstress and in the restaurant business. She enjoyed travelling with family and friends.
Fay is survived by her son, Terry (Kathi) Elder; daughter, Linda Ammons; grandchildren, Tamy (John Vesely) Cortez, Chad (Theresa) Elder and Shawn Elder; six great-grandchildren; brother, Boyd Schoonover; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herman; and sisters, Fern and Ruth.
