Patricia Ann Griffioen, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, 3000 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Patricia was born on April 11, 1946, in Iowa City, the daughter of Paul and Mary Katherine (Andersen) Norris. On Aug. 2, 1964, she married Wayne A. Griffioen in Cedar Rapids. Patricia was a faithful member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She received her brown belt and was co-owner at the Iowa School of
Goju-ryu Karate. Patricia was dedicated to her family and was the best support a family could have.
Patricia is survived by her stepmother, Ann Norris; children, Mark (Lyn) Griffioen of Swisher, Iowa, Danny Griffioen (Dawn Siemering), and Sherri (Bonn) Hawkins, all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Johnathan, Michael and Nicholas Griffioen, and Brooke and Blake Hawkins; and two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Jax.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Griffioen; parents, Paul and Mary Katherine Norris; and infant daughter, Sherri Katherine Griffioen, in 1965.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the entire staff at Mercy Dialysis and Mercy Medical Center for their loving care of Patricia.
