DONALD WITTE
Council Bluffs
Donald M. Witte was born April 10, 1936, in York Township, lowa County, lowa to Martin F. and Ida M.(Sandersfeld) Witte. He was baptized May 10, 1936, and confirmed May of 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He attended Immanuel Parochial school and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Hy & Hy Btry 3rd Msl BN, 61st Arty, Loring AFB, Limestone, Maine. He was employed at Holden's Foundation Seeds Inc. and Monsanto for 46 1/2 years in Williamsburg, lowa. He retired in April 2001 and moved to Logan, Iowa, to be closer to his daughter. During his retirement he enjoyed restoring and showing his antique Minneapolis Moline Tractors with his grandson Justin Thomas. He won most times!
Don is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Scott) Thomas of Logan; son-in-law, Scott Stewart of Oxford, Iowa; grandchildren, Michelle (Jon) Anderson of Indianapolis, Ind., Justin Thomas of Madison, S.D., and Audrey Stewart of Olympia, Wash.; sisters, Janet Maschmann of Victor, Iowa, and Joann Strang of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Harlan and wife Shirley of North English, Iowa; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Stewart; brothers-in-law, Terry Strang and Ed Maschmann; and nephew, Scott Maschmann.
Burial: East York Cemetery (Harrington)\, lowa County, lowa.
Memorials made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Honey Creek, lowa.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church LCMS on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church LCMS on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. Memorials made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Honey Creek, lowa.
