JOHN MARK LEMON
Lenexa, Kan.
John Mark Lemon, 66, died at his home in Lenexa, Kan., on Dec. 15, 2021. Mark was a proud alumni of the University of Iowa. Formerly a longtime resident of Solon, you may remember Mark for his warm, welcoming manner. The founder and PGA-professional, who built Airport National Golf to bring golf to the general public in the Iowa-City/Cedar Rapids community, was a great teacher, mentor and friend to all who visited there. He was also one of the original founders of the Greater Cedar Rapids Open, a very successful annual charity golf event.
Mark was predeceased by his father, and is survived by his mother, Bonita Lemon (Ankeny); sister, Pamela Lemon Wood (Boca Raton, Fla.); brother, Scott Lemon (Ankeny); and three nieces. He was a faithful Christian, a gentleman, a loving son and brother. He will be missed by so many.
The family requests donations be made in his memory to the Greater Cedar Rapids Open (GCRO), P.O. Box 10034, Cedar Rapids, IA 52410.
