Hy-Vee to add home delivery websites, plans to expand stores to four states

West Des Moines-based retailer Hy-Vee debuted two ship-to-home websites, the chain said in a news release. It also released information to employees about expanding its brick-and-mortar footprint into four states in 2023.

The websites, Hy-VeeDeals.com and ShopPetship.com, “will make a variety of bulk grocery products, home goods and pet supplies available to shoppers throughout the United States,” the company said Wednesday.

No membership fees are required, it said.

“Hy-Vee has been a leader in the e-commerce space for many years since the start of our Aisles Online service. With Hy-VeeDeals we can share bulk product deals with the entire country,” Chairman and CEO Randy Edeker said in the release.

He added that PetShip “will bring a variety of pet products to shoppers across the country, along with our first subscription service option ... .”

The chain operates some 285 stores across eight Midwest states, it reported.

Hy-Vee also plans to expand to four states — Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky — in 2023, according to reports in various news outlets and in a video to employees.

Dawn Buzynski, Hy-Vee’s strategic communications director, said in an email to The Gazette the chain would share more information on the new stores next month.

The Des Moines Register earlier this month obtained a video of Edeker — posted on the company’s internal employee communications platform — talking about plans for a Tennessee distribution facility.

That center would handle items for seven new stores in Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky in 2023. The goal is to add more than 20 stores in the next four years in those states, the Register reported.
