Calvin D. Cordray, 58, of Coggon, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A visitation will
be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Pinicon Ridge Park, Wapsi Bluff Shelter, 4729 Horseshoe Falls Rd., Central City IA 52214.
Calvin was born on May 29, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Earl Louis and Dorthey (Aldridge) Cordray. He worked as a cement finisher and retired from Iowa Concrete on April 22, 2021. Calvin loved his job and genuinely enjoyed going to work. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. Calvin treasured his family and liked being around kids. His pride and joy was his dog Kilo. Calvin liked to treat Kilo with ice cream and hamburgers from McDonalds.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber Cordray of San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Aubrey, with another grandchild on the way; siblings, Terry (Kim) Withers of Sigourney, Tisha (Jeff) Avis of Coggon, Tylin (Kenny) Robidoux of Coggon, Charles (Cyndie) Hunt of Hiawatha, Carson (Amy) Carpenter of Cedar Rapids, Karen (Gary) McDowell of Rolla, Mo., Lisa (Carl) Bailey of Rolla, Mo., Jeanie (Kristine) Turner of Portland, Ore., and Tim (Kathey) Vosberg of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brothers, James Turner, Donald Turner and John Turner.
The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for the wonderful care given to Calvin.
