C. Elliott Driscoll was born Nov. 13, 1946, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of John "Jack" V. Jr. and Kathleen V. (Clear) Driscoll. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. A 1964 graduate of Williamsburg High School, he attended college in Bettendorf, Iowa. Elliott was united in marriage to Rita Leahy on Aug. 30, 1970, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Parnell. Together, they farmed and raised their family on Walridge Farms in the Williamsburg community.
Elliott was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), the Iowa Hampshire Breeders Association, the Hampshire Swine Registry, as well as the American Angus, Iowa Angus and Hawkeye Angus Associations. He enjoyed his grandchildren, farming, exhibiting livestock, dancing and going for drives.
Elliott died at his home after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita; eight children, Veronica (Kyle) Heitman of Williamsburg, Theresa (Kirk) Wendhausen of Beloit, Wis., John W. (Rose) Driscoll, Joseph (Dawn) Driscoll, James (Ellen) Driscoll, all of Williamsburg, Mary Ann (Steven) Keenan of Springfield, Ill., Jereld (Mindy) Driscoll of Williamsburg and Eileen (Tristan) Lynn of Johnston, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; a brother, Erle (Renee) Driscoll of Williamsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Fr. Wilkening will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be held 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg. There will be a prayer service at 3 p.m. and a rosary service at 7 p.m. Friday.
