Cedar Rapids
Dallas Phillip Hogan, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy on Nov. 20, 2021.
Dallas was born on April 18, 1943, to Donald and Alice (Garoutte) Hogan at their home in rural Greenfield, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Iowa, he spent a lifetime in banking; starting out at First National Bank in Iowa City for many years, followed by a brief time in Omaha, Nebraska, before settling in South Bend, Indiana for the remainder of his career. Dallas was an avid Hawkeyes fan from his youth to final days. He also had a passion for racquetball, golf and socializing.
Dallas is survived by his children: son, Andy and wife, Laura, of Frederick, Md.; daughters, Courtney (Hogan) Shipley and husband, Ron of Palo, Iowa, and Ainsley (Hogan) Snyder and husband, Josh of Palo, Iowa; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Out of respect for his wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oldorf Hospice House in the name of Dallas Hogan.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff and residents at Evergreen Estates 2, who made Dallas feel welcome and a part of the resident family when he arrived in July 2021. Additional appreciation is sent to the entire staff at the Oldorf Hospice House, Mercy Medical Center, the team of Dr. Gomendoza and the many others involved in his care. The love, support and quality of care was felt by Dallas and his family.
