Nancy Lea Martin, 87, of Martelle, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa. Visitation will begin at
9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Linn Grove Presbyterian Church, rural Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at the Linn Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Nancy was born on June 7, 1934, the daughter of Elvice and Iona (Hanson) Milburn in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Martelle High School in 1952. On Dec. 6, 1952, Nancy married Charles R. Martin at the First United Methodist Church in Marion.
Besides raising three children, Nancy was employed at Rockwell Collins for 28 years. She was a longtime member of Linn Grove Presbyterian Church and in her younger years was a Sunday School teacher. Nancy loved cooking and baking, hosting parties, playing cards and tennis and especially dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; three children, Rai Ann (Jim) Brown, Kim (Cal) Wilson and Kevin (Jody) Martin; eight grandchildren, Luke (Ticey) Ellyson, Brandon (Lily) Wilson, Lauren (Tom) Swain, Amber Davis, Katie (Eric) Parpart, Matthew Martin, Jared Martin and Casey Martin; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Don) Koppenhaver and Becky (Wayne) Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dolores (Darrell) Sinkey.
Nancy was a wonderful, loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank everyone at Anamosa Care Center that gave mom such loving care for the past six years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family for sharing with her favorite charities.
