Plenty of activities for all in Cedar Rapids

In response to Amy Brosh's Nov. 21 letter regarding the perceived lack of activities for senior citizens, I beg to differ. Cedar Rapids offers many different entertainment options for all ages. There are abundant resources available to help one discover current and upcoming events.
Personally, I rely on The Gazette and the Cedar Rapids Recreation Commission's publication concerning events to enjoy and participate in. There are many community education classes via Kirkwood Community College, Indian Creek Nature Center, the public library, Wickiup Hill Nature Center and a multitude of other institutions and places for intellectual enrichment and entertainment. Let's not forget about the summer outdoor concerts, farmers markets, festivals, etc. which draw many people from Eastern Iowa to our community. Our NW Recreation Center also offers a place for folks of all ages to gather and partake in activities and conversation. The many trails offer recreational opportunities for everyone to walk, bike, jog, Rollerblade and enjoy the city. No, Ms. Brosh, " all the money " is not spent on bike trails. And yes, bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motor vehicle drivers. I personally know many senior citizens who take advantage of what Cedar Rapids has to offer. They do not feel the need to leave town every time they want to do something.
So, you see Ms. Brosh, the city DOES care, contrary to your belief.
