Joan Ethel Foss, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Joan is survived by her children,
Joshua (Amber) Foss and Kimberly (Patrick) Teply; grandchildren, Logan, Levi and Liam Foss, and Josie and Taylor Teply; father, John Scribner; and siblings, Dave (Joyce) Scribner, Mark Scribner and Patty (Dan) Van Raden.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary; and sister, Laurie Scribner.
Joan was born on March 28, 1960, in Waterloo, the daughter of John and Mary Fagerlind Scribner. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1978. She married Tony Foss on May 4, 1984. Joan worked as a bus attendant for the Cedar Rapids school district for
17 years, retiring in 2014.
Joan will be remembered for being a selfless loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed baking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren; they were her whole world.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
