Susan "Sue" Rae Rompot, 65, of Marion, Iowa, courageously lost her battle with heart failure and liver cancer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the church conducted by Pastor Seth Watson. Refreshments will follow. A private family burial will precede services.
Survivors include her husband, Roger; sons, Nathan (Marie) Rompot and Zachary Rompot, both of Marion; and grandchildren, Lillian and Klayton Rompot of Marion.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
Sue was born Sept. 30, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Virgil and Deloris (Brooks) Haars. On March 14, 1981, she was united in marriage to Roger Rompot at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Sue graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1975, and then attended Saint Paul Bible College, where she achieved a two-year degree. Sue worked at Collins Aerospace as an area administrator for the past 10 years. Sue loved Jesus and attended New Covenant Bible Church. She enjoyed Christian songs, romantic movies, reading Bible books and had a deep love for cooking. Sue had such a tender heart for serving and providing for others, always putting others' needs before her own. She had a great sense of humor and loved doing things as a family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sue's memory can be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
