NEIL FREDRICK HESS

Neil Fredrick Hess, 86, of Manchester, entered the arms of Jesus on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1935, in Early, Iowa, the son of Paul Henry Hess and Esther Townsend Hess, completing the family of brother Richard and sister Mary Lynn. He was educated in the schools of Early, graduating in 1954. Neil began his working career at Payless Cashway Lumber and Supply in Early, moving to Manchester in 1958. He was a 30-year employee when he retired in 1984.
On June 9, 1962, Neil was united in marriage to Laura Jane Ruddlesdin in the Manchester Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Early and Manchester Presbyterian churches. Neil and Laura enjoyed reading, photography, travel, cars and music.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Hess; and a niece, Jill McFarlen.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Hess; and sister, Mary Lynn Hess Clarke.
Neil requested no services and will be buried at Union Cemetery in Early, Iowa, at a later date. Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, Iowa, is assisting the family.
