JAMES MICHAEL KIMPTON

James Michael Kimpton, 64, of Des Moines, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Jimmy was born Sept. 7, 1957, son of Jack and Patricia Reed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jimmy enjoyed football, music, books and movies. He also wrote poems and songs. He most loved spending time with his children and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 19, 2021, from 1 to 5 p.m. at North Point, located at 621 Center Point Rd. NE.
Survivors include his children, Heather Ahrens of Florida, Jacob Garr of Texas, James Richard Bechtel (Kimpton Jr.), Jenny Giles (daughter-in-law) of Cedar Rapids and Hunter Bechtel of Fairfield; mother, Patricia Nolan of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Jack Barger, Cindy Butterfield and Joe Barger (Christy), all of Cedar Rapids, and brother, Nick Brummer of Texas; nephews, Lucas McMurrin (Taylor Perkins) and Andrew, James, Eden, Mason and Carsen Barger; great-nephew, Lukie J. McMurrin; and great-niece, Lilly McMurrin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carl Reed; grandparents, Alfred and Bessie Scott; stepfather, Jim G. Kimpton; sister, Brenda Schueler; and nephew, Derek Lance Butterfield.
