Marsha Spurr
MARSHA LYNN (VAVRA) SPURR
Cicero, Ind.
Marsha Lynn (Vavra) Spurr, 69, of Cicero, Ind., passed away suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at her home. She was a 20-year cancer survivor, but succumbed to recent pulmonary and heart issues.
Marsha was born May 23, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph C. and Marjorie (Fisher) Vavra. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1970. She then worked for over 23 years at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and later for Drexel Interiors in Indianapolis. Marsha has been an Indiana resident since 1996.
In 1971, She married Nyle Joyce, from whom she later divorced. In 1987, she married Robert Spurr in Cedar Rapids and they were life partners for 35 years.
Marsha had a zest for life and could light up any room with her laughter. She loved spending time with her family, shopping and having a good time. She always pushed the boundaries on what was appropriate and was straight forward with her beliefs. She was unapologetically herself and always told her successors to live every day to the fullest.
Survivors include Robert "Robbie" Spurr; daughter, Sydney (Spurr) Whiteaker of Cicero, Ind.; sons, Thad (Jenn) Joyce of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Rocky (Sophie) Spurr of Noblesville, Ind.; brother, John (Mary) Vavra of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Abe, Ben, Javan, Isaiah, Everly, Kaleb, Kash, Kenzie, Karter and Rowan, and great-grandchild, Myles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alan J. Vavra; and grandchild, Miriam Faith Joyce.
A celebration of life will be held for Marsha at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Hidden Bay Clubhouse, 180 Timberline Dr., Cicero, IN 46034. Since Marsha was an avid gardener her family has requested that in lieu of memorial donations, they would appreciate floral donations sent to her home at 70 W. Cove Court, Cicero, IN 46034.
Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel is assisting the family with Marsha's arrangements and where you may send condolences at www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
