Everette G. Alderman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids with a funeral service to immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Everette, under “photos and videos or media,” starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27.
Everette was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Volga, S.D., the son of Gerald and Elna (Eklund) Alderman. After high school, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. On Dec. 11, 1955, Everette was united in marriage to Mary DeJong in Castlewood, S.D. He worked for Johnson Gas from 1957 until his retirement in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Alderman of Cedar Rapids; children, Rose (Carey) Frahm of Olin, Iowa, Michael Alderman of Cedar Rapids, Douglas Alderman of Texas and Peggy (Jim) Stepanek of Delhi, Iowa; grandchildren, Hailey and Lauren Stepanek and Tiffany (Jeremy) Wink; great-grandchildren, Taylor (Sean) Poduska and Braden Wink; great-great-grandchild, Gracie Poduska; and siblings, Leland (Adelpha) Reppe, JoAnne Bell and Sharon Burkhalter.
Everette was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John Alderman, Betty Reppe and Jimmy Alderman.
