Helen J. Cheney, 78, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. Private inurnment will take place at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Helen was born Nov. 16, 1943, in Valley City, N.D., the daughter of Peter and Lucy (Rienstra) Van Bruggen. She was united in marriage to Willard Cheney.
Survivors includer her children, Richard (Marci) Hogan, Jr. of Peoria, Ill., and Christopher Hogan of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Albert Van Bruggen of Grafton, N.D., Marie Fjelstad of Fargo, N.D., and Mary Ann Louis of Bonita Springs, Fla.; as well as several extended family members.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard; daughter-in-law, Mary Hogan; and sister, Martha Caouette.
