Susan K. Kinkead, 71, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at the Hiawatha Care Center. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Hiawatha Community Center. Murdoch Funeral

Susan was born on Aug. 21, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of James and Rita (Stanek) Washburn. She was a 1969 graduate of Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. On Jan. 23, 1971, Susan was united in marriage to Michael Allen Kinkead in Marion, Iowa. She worked at Stickney Scoreboard as a cook before retiring in 2001. Susan was a friend to everyone she met and always wanted those around her to have a good time. She loved spending time with her grandchildren while baking, doing arts and crafts and watching their sporting events. Susan also enjoyed time spent bowling with friends, gardening, camping and cook outs with family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Susan is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Michael of Hiawatha; two children, Tressa (Matthew) Losch of Cedar Rapids and Steven (Amanda) Kinkead of Swisher; grandchildren, Jake (Emma), AJ (Constance) and Paige Losch and Brooklyn and Brody Kinkead; four siblings, Don (Delores) Washburn of Cedar Rapids, Ron (Deb) Washburn of Cedar Rapids, Ralph Washburn of Alburnett and Ray Washburn of Nichols; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rita; sister, Cathy Washburn; and in-laws, Marion (Alice) Kinkead.
Susan's family would like to thank Dr. Mary Anne Nelson and the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center for their love and care towards Susan.
