It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Beverly Jo Weyland on Nov. 18, 2021, at the Views of Marion. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday,

Nov. 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will host a reception at the Cedar Memorial Family Center following the burial.

Beverly was born Jan. 8, 1939, in Unionville Iowa. The youngest of two daughters born to Glenn and Minnie (Dommer) Wood. Beverly graduated from Ottumwa High. She worked at the hardware retailer, Harper and McIntire and managed the local A&W. In February 1961, she meets a charming Gilbertville native, Neil Weyland, and they were married on Sept. 16, 1961. Nine months later their family began. By 1964 they had three children and had moved to the big city, Cedar Rapids. They later added two more children to their brood. With a family that size, both Neil and Bev work several jobs to make ends meet. Beverly worked for Cryovac, Sears, Von Maur and Square D. She retired from Square D after 32 years in 2004.

Beverly was a compassionate, and a very caring person. Her husband, Neil, spent 310 days at the University of Wisconsin Medical Clinic at Madison awaiting his heart transplant. She and the children visited him every weekend and went to Ottumwa every Wednesday to care for her mother.

Beverly loved a good flea market/thrift store/antique store. She collected anything that made her smile. Her favorite place was the What Cheer Flea Market, she never missed a season. She was famous for purchasing the heaviest treasure that was the farthest from the entrance. She was an artistic person, enjoyed painting and drawing, her family loved to hear her sing. She tended her yard filled with Hosta's and flowers that bloomed all season.

Beverly was diagnosed with mild cognitive decline in 2015. Neil became her primary caregiver, along with his children, Beverly was able to stay at home until May of 2021 when her care was given over to the Views of Marion, along with the staff of Mercy Hospice. Beverly was a kind person, always polite to her caregivers, complementing them on their beauty and asking them if they wanted to be one of her kids. She was able to tell her family that she loved them ever time she saw them, even when she lost her ability to speak. Beverly was a sweet and loving soul; she will be greatly missed.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 60 years, Neil; her children, Terri (Greg) Henecke, Kathy (Bill) McCauley, Alan (Janice) Weyland, Becca (Tracy) English and Carmen (Brett) McKee; her grandchildren, Spencer and Gabby Weyland, Chloe Dunn, Aiden English, Paul Potts, Blake Anderson and Hillary Lippincott; her niece, Anita (David) Meinert of Oskaloosa; and her favorite "child," her Chihuahua, Squirt. Beverly has two great-grandchildren she never got to meet, Keisen Derby-Potts and Charlie Lippincott. In-laws, Carolyn Jussley, Gary Weyland, Beverly Culbert, David (Cindy) Weyland and Beth (Tom) Swyers.

The family would like to share their extreme gratitude to the staff of the Views of Marion and Mercy Hospice for their dedication to Beverly's care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mercy Hospice or Mercy Caregiver Center.
