CEDAR RAPIDS — The two hopefuls vying for Cedar Rapids mayor in the Nov. 30 runoff election will participate in a forum Tuesday evening at the downtown Cedar Rapids Public Library.
The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, Hawkeye Area Labor Council AFL-CIO and KCRG-TV will host the forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Whipple Auditorium of the library at 450 Fifth Ave. SE. Mayoral candidates Amara Andrews and Tiffany O’Donnell have both confirmed their attendance.
Neither Andrews nor O’Donnell received the required 50 percent plus one-vote threshold to win outright in the Nov. 2 election but were the top two vote-getters so they will head to the runoff.
The runoff mayoral forum will be moderated by Beth Malicki, news anchor at KCRG-TV; Rick Moyle, executive director of Hawkeye Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO; and Doug Neumann, executive director of the Economic Alliance. The event will be broadcast live on KCRG’s 9.2 channel. It also will be livestreamed on KCRG.com, KCRG’s app, KCRG’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
The forum is free, but attendance is exclusive for members of the Economic Alliance and Hawkeye Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO and its retirees. Members of both organizations have been asked to preregister and submit questions before the forum.
The Cedar Rapids Public Library requires masks be worn inside.
