Ronald Lietz, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at St Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 20, at the American Legion Marion Post 298 located at 625 31st St., Marion, Iowa. A lunch will be provided after the military honors which will be held at noon. Ronnie was born Oct. 18, 1944, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Edward and Amy Ruth (Wilkin) Lietz. Ronnie graduated high school in 1962 then joined the U.S. Army and served two tours in the Vietnam War. After the Army Ronnie worked various jobs which included working at FMC, Longview Fibre and PMX. Ron married Sherri Lowder on June 28, 1997. Ron enjoyed working on small engines, fishing and his many cats that he had through the years.
Survivors include his wife, Sherri; his five children, Dave (Jody), Amy, Paul, Gary (Tina) and Kim (Denny); 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen; a sister-in-law, Betty; and several nieces, sister- and brothers-in-law and five fur babies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed; a brother-in-law, Leonard; and his mother- and
father-in-law.
He will be greatly missed and remembered always. Thank you Ron for your service to your country.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
