Dex James Mehrhoff gently passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. Mommy, daddy and sister were looking forward to his birth and showing him his dinosaur themed room in their new home that they purchased to have more room for him. He was named after his grandfathers on both sides, Dennis and Rex, to come up with Dex.
Dex is survived by his parents, Jason Mehrhoff and Kara Kelly; sister, Mary Grace; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Mary Kelly; aunts, Kristin (Scott) Chapman and Amanda Steward; cousins, Drew and Jack Chapman; close family friends, Justin (Yanira) Scarlett and their daughter, Olivia, and Mary (Troy) Christensen; and so many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rex and Patty Mehrhoff.
Private services are being held through Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home.
