Betty Ione Smith, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021. She was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Walker, Iowa, the daughter of Lois and Leo Porter. She married her second husband, Donald L. Smith on Nov. 26, 1956, in Las Vegas, Nev. She worked at and retired from Norand of Cedar Rapids. Betty enjoyed socializing at the bar with friends, music, dancing, puzzles and quiz programs. In her younger years she enjoyed creating art.
Betty is survived by four children, Susan C. Smith, Donald D. Smith, Teresa A. Panosh and Matthew J. (Barbie) Smith; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and her beloved pooch, Patty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis M. Porter and Leo D. Porter; her two sisters, Ramona J. Gallagher and Patricia K. Greene; her son, James R. Smith; granddaughter, Natalie B. Cole; and special friend, Bill Hall.
