Embrace a different sort of gambling in Cedar Rapids

Gamble on the good things in life — let’s gamble on ourselves being worthwhile people. Let’s gamble that we can help. Let’s help by giving money and/or our time to a person (or people) in need. If it doesn’t seem to help, then do what you do at a casino — do it again. If that doesn’t work maybe jump for higher stakes and give more than before. Go for the thrill of seeing others do better. What if nothing you do seems to help? Think of it like at the casino and maybe you’ll do better next time. Try it again another day, another person or another organization. In this kind of gambling you win by giving of yourself and by knowing that you gave the best you had.
If you run a business, gamble that paying your employees more will help your business; Gamble on making your product better for the end user; Gamble on service and be all you can be for the customer.
Yes, it is a gamble that helping others will pay off — I get it. However, the odds are better helping others than they are at a casino.
Invest in people — gamble on the goodness within all of us — let’s be all we can be, let’s gamble on being caring, decent, kind people. How could anyone not want to gamble?
