Halloween Carnival is Friday evening in Iowa City
Oct. 27, 2021 6:00 am
IOWA CITY — Grab your costume and join the Halloween Carnival, a family-friendly night of Halloween fun that will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday on the ground floor of the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp. At 7 p.m., FilmScene in the Park will host a free, outdoor screening of the classic 1990s Halloween movie, "Hocus Pocus" at neighboring Chauncey Swan Park.
The carnival will feature ghostly carnival games, spooky experiments, Halloween themed STEAM/STEM activities, prizes, and special visitors: Iowa City police and fire, Johnson County Ambulance, and the Iowa City Public Library's Bookmobile. This event is designed for children 10 years and under, but all ages are welcome to attend.
The west half of the lower level Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp and the northwest corner of the Robert A. Lee Parking Lot will be closed for this event. The north and south entrances of the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp will remain open. Those attending should either park in the upper level of the ramp, at other locations Downtown, or walk or bike with the family.
The Halloween Carnival is presented by Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department, University of Iowa Departments of Education, Engineering and Healthcare, the Iowa Children's Museum and FilmScene.
